The Careers Advisory Service is here to accompany you through the often-bewildering journey of planning and researching your career options. The services and resources on offer are designed for the real DIY type. Nobody is going to try to sell you anything you don’t want or need. Its up to you to take the initiative. If you think that any of the services described here may be of benefit to you, whether you are in first year or in final year, please avail of them. Here are some of the ways in which the Careers Advisory Service can help you:

* One-to-one appointments: appointments can usually be arranged within two to three days of your contacting the service. You can do this by

o Calling to the Careers Office. If the office is unattended or the Careers Officer is engaged you can simply fill out an Appointment Request Form and leave it under the door. The Careers Officer will contact you about your appointment asap.

o Telephoning the Careers Officer at (01)2144670 or e-mailing : paul.j.murphy@iadt.ie

* Provide you with Careers Information materials : again, by calling into the Careers Office or you can browse the Careers Shelves in the Library (See Factsheet 2 on Careers Information)

* The Careers Education Programme: browse the range of customised careers workshops available on Sideshowbob (Lecturers Folder, Paul@careers subfolder). The careers officer is happy to arrange workshops for class groups on request by students and/or lecturers

* Notify you of job opportunities:
o Current students: check the Jobs Noticeboard on the Students Union website: www.iadtsu.ie

o Graduates: register your e-mail address with the careers service for ongoing updates (paul.j.murphy@iadt.ie)
o Current Students and Graduates: register for e-mail alerts on Gradireland.com, the main colleges graduate recruitment website:
