Workshop Descriptions

We offer a range of workshops in the areas of finance, well being and academic skills.

Mindfulness

This is a drop-in meditation session open to all. No previous experience of meditation required! Mindfulness runs every week during term time.

Learning to Learn

This 4-week programme is from a psychological perspective and teaches students how the brain learns and helps them build meta-cognitive skills - an awareness of how they think. It covers key strategies for learning such as note taking, effective reading and memory skills.

Personal Financial Planning

This workshop takes students through the typical costs to expect at college and how to plan personal finances as a student at IADT. Kindly provided by the DunLaoghaire Money and Budgeting Service (MABS).

Writing a Literature Review

This workshop introduces undergraduate students to the fundamentals of researching, planning, and writing a literature review. It will address critical reading, effective evaluation of sources, and contextualisation of sources - key aspects of a literature review - as well as focusing on structuring and editing. The workshop will also address use of library systems to identify and locate relevant sources. 

Academic Writing

This workshop introduces undergraduate students to the academic writing process and the key steps involved in planning, structuring and writing an academic essay or literature review. 

Exams Skills

This workshop helps students prepare for upcoming exams. The workshop will cover planning a study/revision schedule, useful revision tips and strategies, exam pitfalls to avoid and exam techniques that will help students maximise their exam performance. This workshop is particularly useful for students who feel they need some help planning their revision or who experience exam related stress.
