School in a Box

School in a Box is a project that has grown from our FÍS family of projects, and investigates how solar powered mobile technology can be used to improve quality of education and learning in remote, low resource environments in the developing world.

IADT have collaborated with the Karuna Shechen Foundation in a secondary school in remote high regions of the Himalayas Nepal. In Mozambique, we have partnered with UNESCO in rural adult literacy centres, with the Aga Khan Foundation in remote field farm schools, and with Irish Aid and the Ministry for Education in a large over-crowded urban primary school, to investigate how mobile technology can encourage active and meaningful learning in a local context.
