The aim of the Centre for Creative Technologies + Applications is to improve the design of new technologies to meet real human needs. The CCTA draws together the expertise and research interests of the academic staff and postgraduate students to explore the complex interaction between people and technology.
When we believe in it, we do everything we can to support it! Run along with Enterprise Ireland, and delivered in partnership with DIT Hothouse, New Frontiers supports the start-up and growth of new ventures that have the potential to trade internationally and create employment at home.
Where education, international ambition and entrepreneurship combine! Media Cube provides on-campus space, networking and good old-fashioned you-can-do-it support to early-stage entrepreneurs and innovators in the creative, digital and software sectors. Founded in 2007, Media Cube currently houses twenty start-ups, employing 65 people.
School in a Box
Innovation and investigation in action internationally! Projects include collaboration with the Karuna Shechen Foundation to use solar powered mobile technology in a school in the Himalayas, and partnering with UNESCO to use technology to improve education in rural adult literacy centres in Mozambique.
Films in Schools
Teaching people how to tell their stories begins in childhood. FÍS supports primary schools with the resources to make their own movies. It’s inspiring to see such creativity, teamwork, confidence and resourcefulness spring to life! FÍS runs an annual film festival in the Helix.
