What is Digital Media Technology?

If you’re technically minded and you want to work in the digital media creation industry, this ‘hands-on’, practical programme is the place to start.


On successful completion of the programme, you will:


•    have an understanding of the electronic circuits and systems underpinning digital media technology

•    be able to carry out testing and fault diagnosis for a range of digital media, audio and visual systems

•    be able to develop and integrate audio-visual systems

•    undertake technological projects involving digital media technology, working in teams or on your own


Aims and Objectives

What will I do on the programme?

You will work on large technical, creative and business projects, building upon technical knowledge you may have already gained, in areas such as digital signal processing, advanced electronics digital communications. The programme will also prepare you for the working world in areas such as television and radio.


What subjects will I study?

Electronics, Digital Audio Systems, Digital Video Systems, Digital Signal Processing, Digital Communications, Digital Media Entrepreneurship, Project


What will I be able to do when I graduate?

Technician positions exist within the digital media sector, e.g. in the TV, radio and IT industries, or you can continue your studies at IADT or at other institutions.


What are the Entry Requirements?

60 credits and an overall GPA of 2.00 (40%) or higher in an appropriate HETAC level 6 Higher Certificate in Engineering in a subject area relevant to Digital Media Technology, such as Audio Visual Media Technology, would be eligible for entry.

Applicants with a combination of suitable qualifications and relevant work experience would also be considered.
