‘The most valuable thing you can ever own is your image of yourself as a winner in the great game of life, as a contributor to the betterment of humankind as an achiever of worthy goals.’ Tom Hopkins.

What makes this programme so good?

This dynamic and student-centred programme will help you to acquire the knowledge, competencies and skills to make things happen in the world of business. This programme will equip graduates for ultimate success either as an entrepreneur or as a professional decision-maker in the business world. Our teaching approach is centred on you, the student, and on how best to help each of you to acquire entrepreneurial competencies.

We cultivate these competencies and skills, of dealing with such unstructured challenges, through a number of major projects. Projects include running a business and selling in Dun Laoghaire People’s Park (year 1), running a business and selling through eBay (year 2), business plans and magazine publication (year 3) and strategic audits (year 4).

We invest significant resources in these projects as they provide numerous benefits: our students are encouraged to link knowledge acquired in different subjects, they get a chance to repeat exercises after reflecting on previous attempts, and group and communication skills can be developed to a very high level. Small class sizes facilitate this highly innovative approach to third level education.

Student Profile: Jose Reid

So far I’m really enjoying the programme. I find the lectures very interesting and helpful with my goals for the future. I like the way it is very practical unlike many other programmes. The classes are relatively small which means you can get help with material very easily from the lecturers who are always happy to oblige. The small classes also mean that it is more personal, you know everybody in your class so you really can have a great social life with them as you get to know them pretty well. The facilities in IADT are excellent, from the canteen to the library to the chapel where you can relax if college life ever becomes a bit too stressful!

Skills for life
Even in first year, I have picked up many beneficial skills especially things such as public speaking, writing skills and presenting skills. I have found that you really do need these and hopefully these will stay with me.

The future is bright
My goal is to set up my own business one day and I believe that I’m on track to doing that as I’m picking up a lot of useful skills and information here. I think that with this degree will really benefit my future career and my dreams of one day having my own successful business.
