Cyberpsychology lecturer Nicola Fox Hamilton at Science Gallery

IADT Cyberpsychology lecturer Nicola Fox Hamilton took part in a sold-out panel discussion on intimacy in the digital age in the Science Gallery Dublin.

The panel discussion between Nicola Fox Hamilton, Lecturer in Psychology and Cyberpsychology, IADT, Dr Jamie Saris, Senior Lecturer in Anthropology at Maynooth University, and Dr. Kris Gowen, sexuality educator and Director of Community Engaged Evaluation at Oregon Health and Science University was moderated by Caroline West, Doctoral Scholar in Sexuality Studies at DCU.

The discussion delved into how technologies can positively or negatively affect our ability to experience intimacy with the people around us, in both romantic and platonic relationships. Also discussed were the various ways in which we can experience intimacy through technology, from our increased ability to discuss intimate matters like health, addiction or other difficulties online, to our connections to people through shared interests and values.
