Writers in Residence
IADT’s Writer in Residence project was introduced in September 2004. It immediately sparked a series of literary events and activities that are continuing today. This initiative is promoted by the Department of Humanities, with major funding provided through the Arts Office of Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council.
In September 2004, IADT welcomed Catriona O’Reilly as our first Writer in Residence. Catriona completed her doctorate in American Literature at TCD, and also directed the launch of the first student literary magazine.
In 2005/6, our Writer in Residence was the poet Peter Sirr, who delieverd a series of public readings in IADT. Peter Sirr has published seven collections of poems with The Gallery Press: Marginal Zones (1984); Talk, Talk (1987); Ways of Falling (1991); The Ledger of Fruitful Exchange (1995); Bring Everything (2000); Selected Poems (2004); and Nonetheless (2004). He is currently editor of Poetry Ireland Review.
The 2006/7 Writer in Residence is Katei Donovan – author and journalist with The Irish Times. Katie is delivering Creative Writing courses to staff and students at IADT.
