• Strand 2 of the Research & Development Skills Programme is the Enterprise Platform Programme (EPP).  “Create” is the IADT Digital Media Enterprise Platform Programme.

• Strand 3 of the Research & Development Skills Programme is the Core Research Strengths Enhancement Programme. This Strand provides funding for postdoctoral and/or other experienced researchers, and postgraduate students. Funding is also available to develop the expertise of existing academic staff in research, with the aim of building core strengths.
  
• NDRC IADT is an active partner in a consortium of institutes developing Ireland's National Digital Research Centre (NDRC). See www.ndrc.ie for more information
• VLAB IADT has a dedicated Virtual Lab Environment (VLAB), funded by Enterprise Ireland. It is available for both research and business use. For more information, Contact Frederic Herrera at 01 2394647 or email frederic.herrera@iadt.ie
• NOMAD In 2001, the NOMAD (Next-generation wireless software services: Modelling and Developing usable applications) consortium was formed, which combined research groupings from three IoTs: The Centre for Creative Technologies and Applications (CCTA) at IADT; The Telecommunications Software Systems Group (TSSG) at Waterford IT; and The Software Technology Research Centre (SToRC) at Dundalk IT. The rationale behind the consortium, which received €350,000 in funding, is to address new application areas where there is a strong emphasis on supporting creative activities at a time and place of the user’s choosing. An exciting project trial, using advanced wireless technology to improve communication between students and their union officers, has been completed at IADT. This project was led by Dr Mark Riordan and Dr John Greaney from the School of Creative Technologies.
  
• GATEWAY (Guidance for Assistive Technologies in Education and the Workplace Advancing Young People with Disabilities)
  
  GATEWAY is a European research project funded under the Leonardo Da Vinci programme. IADT is the promoter and project leader on this project in partnership with Athlone Institute of Technology, Enable Ireland, Ability Net, University of Ljubljana, Slovenia & Technical University of Kosice, Slovakia.
  
  The GATEWAY project facilitates and encourages the use of Assistive Technologies for people with disabilities entering both 3rd level education and the workplace. This project was developed in direct response to the lack of National and European guidelines for assessment of individuals with special learning needs, and the lack of information on ways in which barriers preventing these individuals accessing education and employment can be removed.
  
  The GATEWAY project was completed in 2006. A new website was launched to raise awareness among Young People, Education and Guidance Practitioners, and Employers  which related to a variety of available Assistive Technologies and the ways in which they can enable people with disabilities to reach their full potential. • MLearning – The Incorporation of Mobile Learning into Mainstream Education & Training.  IADT is a key partner, alongside Ericsson, in this Leonardo da Vinci project. It contributes expertise in wireless technologies in the field of mobile learning, ensuring that the products are used in mainline education. This project is being led by Dr Mark Riordan from the School of Creative Technologies.
