STUDENT HEALTH CENTRE

The Student Health Centre aims to provide the best possible general medical and nursing care and the highest quality of service that is efficient, effective and courteous without discrimination.  Confidentially is maintained in so far as is legally possible.

A doctor is available for three sessions a week to see students who require medical assistance.
A nurse is available five days per week, providing;

•    Emergency care
•    Confidential professional advice
•    Referrals to an appropriate professional.

Appointments with the doctor and nurse may be made by visiting the Student Health Centre or by contacting Nurses Jean Boland or Joan Broderick at 01 239 4760.  There is a 10 euro charge to see the GP and no charge to see the Nurse.

Medical Services: Dr Madeleine McCarthy and Dr Eamon Spillane provide a GP medical service in the IADT Student Health Centre for 9 hours a week over three days. Further appointments (limited in number) are available throughout the week in Harbour Health Medical Practice, Dun Laoghaire and must be booked via the IADT Nurse to avail of the student discount fee of Euro 10


Please note; You must an appointment to see the Doctor in IADT or Harbour Health via the IADT Nurse at 01 239 4760 or drop in to the Student Health Centre.   Private appointments booked in Harbour Health will be charged full consultation fee.


Off Campus / Out of Hours Service:
DL DOC – This is a co-operative medical service for URGENT surgery appointments outside normal surgery times.  Consultation fee required (approx 70 euro) DL DOC is based in St Michael’s Hospital, Dun Laoghaire phone number 01 6639 869

DL DOC Hours of opening:
6pm – 10pm Monday to Friday
10am – 6pm Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holidays.

Doctor on Duty Service:
Patients of IADT Student Health Centre in need of medical attention after 10pm weekdays and after 6pm weekends please contact 01 4539 333 and identify yourself as Dr McCarthy’s patient.  Standard consultation call-out fee will apply to this service.


Doctors Hours: By appointment only except in a medical emergency. 

A Doctor is available to students at the following times


Monday 10.00am – 12.30pm
Wednesday 1.30pm – 4pm
Thursday 10.00am – 12.30pm


These surgery times are subject to change occasionally.  Notification will be displayed on notice boards in each building.  If you have a scheduled appointment you will be notified by phone or text of any change.


Nursing Service Hours
Nurse Jean Boland and Nurse Joan Broderick work in a job-share capacity and provide nursing consultations daily.


A Nurse is usually available to see students at the following times:
Monday           9.30am – 10 an and 2pm – 4pm (Surgery 10-1pm)
Tuesday           9.30am – 12.30 and 2pm – 4pm
Wednesday     9.30am – 12pm (Surgery 1.30pm – 4.30pm)
Thursday          9.30am – 10am and 2pm – 4pm (Surgery 10-1pm)
Friday                9.30am – 1pm

These times are subject to change.  Appointments are not necessary to see the Nurse, however during GP surgery times & in the event of emergencies it may be necessary to ask you to return later.
