Why Choose IADT
Clubs & Societies
Clubs & Societies form a vital part of college life and IADT has plenty to choose from. And, if the one you want isn’t here, you can always set one up yourself (talk to the Student Union or contact Sports & Recreation and Cultural Office). Clubs and Societies are great ice-breakers, especially if you’re just starting college so see if any of the following grab your attention.
The clubs and societies active are:
- Electronic Music
- Soccer
- Cabaret
- Free Running
- Film
- Table Tennis
- Break-Dance
- Martial Arts
- Acting
- Rambling
- Mature Students
- GAA
- LGBT
- Hockey
- Sex
- Surfing
- Texas Hold’Em
- Juggling
More are added every year and while some are just for fun others compete at a national level.
A list of clubs & societies can be found in the Useful Student Publications.
Clubs and Societies success stories
In 2006, Simon Holohan, a member of our Table Tennis Society, supported by IADT, represented Leinster in the “Under 21’s Inter-Provincial Table Tennis” competition. Leinster won.
Our soccer team, affiliated to the CFAI (College Football Association of Ireland), reached the quarter final of the Umbro Colleges Cup in their division.
Our GAA team received an award for being the most improved college in Division 3 of the Inter-Colleges GAA League.
Our mixed hockey team competed in the Inter-Colleges Hockey League in Kilkenny and Cork.
Our surfers and ramblers continue to travel the country and provide a great forum for those wishing to join them.
