Minister of Education and Skills Ruairi Quinn TD announces relaxed eligibility criteria for Springboard courses - Now anyone in receipt of certain social welfare payments are eligible without the unemployment history of 6 months. Please see www.bluebrick.ie/springboard for new criteria
People who are on the live register still have time to register in one of the free part-time courses starting at the Institute of Art, Design and Technology, Dun Laoghaire this September. Should a springboard student be lucky enough to be offered a job while doing one of our courses, they will be afforded the opportunity to complete the course at the same time as being employed is so far as is practicably possible. IADT is offering places for those unemployed or recently made redundant in the following programmes:
- Certificate in Mobile Software Development (Android) – Level 8 Supplemental Award
- Certificate in Mobile Software Development (iOS) – Level 8 Supplemental Award
- Certificate in Online Business Trading - Level 7 Special Purpose Award
- Certificate in Enterprise Development - Level 8 Special Purpose Award
- Certificate in Human Computer Interaction (HCI) - Level 8 Special Purpose Award
- Diploma in Enterprise Innovation - Level 7 Diploma in conjunction with IT-Tallaght
Workshops will be provided in study skills, career advice and other areas over the duration of the Springboard programmes.

To be eligible for a place on an IADT Springboard programme you must:
- Have a history of employment and be actively seeking work and be in receipt of one of the following Department of Social Protection payments:
- Jobseeker’s Benefit payment or
- Jobseekers Allowance payment or
- One Parent Family Allowance payment or
- Back to Work Enterprise Allowance (BTWEA) or
- Disability Allowance or
- Back to Education Allowance (BTEA) or
- VTOS training allowance or
- FAS Training Allowance or
- Be signing for social insurance contribution credits
Applicants who are offered a place on a Springboard programme will be required to submit a UP51b letter from the Department of Social Protection confirming the duration of time that they have been in receipt of one of these payments, or signing for contribution.
Applicants who do not submit this confirmation to IADT will not be registered on the programme.
The UP51b form can be downloaded here, and must be signed/stamped by your local Department of Social Protection office.
Springboard applicants who qualify maybe required to transfer their allowance to Job Seekers Benefit or Job Seekers Allowance for the duration of the course. Please complete the SB611 form, which can be downloaded here. This additional form is a self-declaration form. The completed SB611 form should be submitted along with the UP51b to IADT as the course provider.
IADT Accreditation of Prior and Experiential Learning (APEL)/Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) Policy
IADT aims to facilitate entry to and participation in the Springboard programmes. The admission of students to programmes on the basis of accreditation of prior and experiential learning is an important part of this process. Where applicants do not meet the formal entry requirements for a programme they may apply for admission under the APEL policy.
