Introduction to IADT
Introduction to Schools
Three Schools, One Vision
IADT is made up of three schools:
School of Business and Humanities
Our goal is to be recognised as a centre of excellence for Business & Humanities education, specifically in the knowledge, media and entertainment sectors. Our unique interdisciplinary programmes, offered at Degree and Postgraduate levels, are helping us to achieve this goal. There are two departments: Business and Enterprise, and Humanities.
Our business programmes embrace all aspects of business and focus particularly on enterprise and entrepreneurship. Emphasis is placed on the acquisition of practical business skills and competencies, including critical thinking for entrepreneurs. We also offer a degree in Arts Management and a BA (Hons) in English, Media and Cultural studies. Full course listing.
In order to excel we invite guest lecturers from business, the arts, culture and media sectors. We also have close links with local, national and international business, the media industries and the public sector. Such visits and links keep students in touch with the latest developments and experiences from the real world.
Our staff are also involved in research, something that compliments teaching practice as well as programme delivery.
In keeping with the school’s unique range of programmes, there are two postgraduate programmes, as well as a one year Foundation course aimed at adults returning to education.

School Of Creative Technologies
The school’s objective is to be recognised as a centre for innovative technologies. Our programmes combine technical skill and knowledge with an understanding of the role played by technology in society. Integral to this is a strong emphasis on the human dimension to Creative Technologies.
In Psychology Applied to Information Technology (BSc) you will be equipped with specialist skills in computing, multimedia, e-learning and e-business.
The Multimedia Systems programme offers students a distinct edge by working in tandem with students from the Art and Design Department’s programme in Visual Communications and Interactive Media. Such a creative and integrated approach has led to several Internet and Multimedia awards.
Graduates of Audiovisual Media Technologies gain valuable experience and specialist knowledge, allowing them to pursue careers in the media and entertainment industries.
The Centre for Creative Technologies and Applications (CCTA) at IADT improves the design of new technologies to meet real human needs. The Centre combines expertise in Psychology, Behavioural Statistics, HCI, Software Engineering, Multimedia and Mobile Systems. In 2006, for the second year in a row, IADT psychology students earned a place in the Human Computer Interaction (HCI) Congress, in North America – a major event for third level institutions around the world.
