How to Apply

How to Apply

There are two application routes to our courses:

  • Through the CAO
  • Directly to IADT

Applying through the CAO

IADT is a member of the CAO (Central Applications Office) system.
All applications for admission to the first year of Higher Certificate, Ordinary Degree and Honours Degree programmes at IADT must be made directly to the

Central Applications Office (CAO)
Tower House
Eglinton Street
Galway
(Telephone: 091-509800, Fax: 091-562344)
Website: www.cao.ie

The CAO application pack is available from the career guidance counsellor in your school or from the CAO. On-line applications are also available.

Please refer to the information on application fees and closing dates provided in the CAO Handbook, or in the website www.cao.ie. Adherence to the closing date(s) as published by the CAO is essential.

Applying directly to IADT

Limited places may be available each year which allow for advanced entry or transfer to our programmes, e.g. direct entry to 2nd, 3rd or 4th year of a programme. Such places are typically taken by students who have completed relevant studies in other higher education institutions or at IADT. Availability of places differs from year to year - in many cases no places become available.

To be considered for such places you must apply directly to IADT. Direct Entry Application Forms are available here or from the Admissions Office.

You can apply directly to IADT for the following programmes:

Suitably qualified applicants will also be considered for direct entry to Higher Certificate, Ordinary Degree and Honours Degree programmes, other than Year 1, where places are available.

Copies of certificates, transcripts of results and other relevant documents must be included with your application. Where original documentation is in a language other than English/Irish, applications will only be considered where a translation is provided.

Applicants awaiting examination results should ensure that these are forwarded to the Academic & Student Affairs Office as soon as they become available.
