03-10-2011
Many congratulations to the IADT students who submitted entries for the 2011 Undergraduate Awards 2011 and particular congratulations to Richard Howard and Laura Kavanagh from the BA Honours in English Media and Cultural Studies programme on reaching the finals. Richard Howard was a finalist in the English Language and Literature category and Laura Kavanagh was a finalist in the Modern Cultural Studies category.
Founded in 2008, the Undergraduate Awards aims to inspire future generations of graduates by supporting and celebrating their ideas. The 2011 awards programme was open to all final and penultimate year students enrolled in a degree course in any third level institution on the island of Ireland, as well as students studying in a selection of universities in the USA: Harvard, Columbia, Princeton, California Institute of Technology, University of Chicago, and Boston College. The Ireland & Northern Ireland Categories were open to final and penultimate year students studying for a degree on the island of Ireland, who submitted essays written as part of their coursework to 20 categories.
This is an excellent achievement and means that the two student’s essays were among the top 10% of the 2345 that were sent into the awards this year from every third level institution on the island of Ireland. Well done to the students and to all the staff who supported them.
