1st Year Visual Arts Practice (IADT) students in Irish Museum of Modern Art
This student project is site-specific and centred around the environment of IMMA. In conjunction with this project, and to engage with a public audience, there are a series of events and open studio opportunities.
The aim is to allow the audience at the Irish Museum of Modern Art gain a deeper understanding of the kind of work carried out on a Visual Art programme, and of the educational process involved in the 1st year at the Institute of Art, Design and Technology in Dublin.
On Tuesday 8 March, 50 students started their studio residency at IMMA by delivering a series of presentations of their developing visual research work and their proposals for site-specific installations and interventions.
These were available for public viewing by arrangement.
On Thursday 14 April, the project will conclude with an Open Day and Exhibition for public viewing. The students will show their research and visualisations in the studio spaces and a series of related site interventions will be on display throughout the grounds of IMMA.
We would like to thank Lisa Moran from Irish Museum of Modern Art for providing site and studio facilities for 1st year staff and students in Studio 9+10 at Irish Museum of Modern Art.
You can follow the work of the students online at www.visualartspractice.blogspot.com
IADT lead tutors on this residency are Laurence Riddell, Des Ward, Lynda Devenney & Tim Lloyd
