Two teams from IADT have been shortlisted for the Irish Imagine cup software design final on the 10-April-2008 in Microsoft offices, Leopardstown. This year's theme, "Imagine a world where technology enables a sustainable environment," is one of the most challenging and inspirational themes yet. The winners will represent Ireland at the International Final in Paris in July.

The two teams, each comprising of four students, from the Multimedia Systems/Web Engineering programme in the Creative Technology School have designed innovative solutions ,which if implemented could help future generations inherit a healthy planet. Louise Glynn, Donal Fenwick, Adam Fleetwood and Des Sherwin designed and developed a prototype of an innovative technology enabled recycling system. Clodagh Veale, Keelan Byrne, Louise Doyle, and John Allen designed a prototype of an intelligent smart home system.

The Software Design Invitational challenges students around the globe to explore their own creativity by using technology to solve what they consider to be challenging problems.  Many former winners go on to start their own companies or work at major corporations. Dr. Mark Riordan, Head of Department of Technology and all in IADT wish both teams and their lecturer Marian Mc Donnell well in the National final.
