Dun Laoghaire Institute of Art, Design and Technology came under the terms of the Freedom of Information Act (FOI) with effect from 21st October 2001. It is also a registered Data Controller and will comply with its obligations under the Data Protection Acts of 1988 and 2003 with regard to the dissemination of personal information to any third party. 

Applications under the FOI Acts

Under the FOI Acts, anyone is entitled to apply for access to information not otherwise publicly available.  Each person has a right to:

- access to records held by the Institute
- correction of personal information relating to oneself held by the Institute
      where it is inaccurate, incomplete or misleading
- access to reasons for decisions made by the Institute directly affecting oneself.

These rights are supported by internal review and external appeals procedures.
