The library is full of information and is presented as follows:

Books
Our book collection is arranged in a numerical sequence based on Dewey Decimal Classification. This begins at 000 and works its way upwards. Every book is given a call number made up of numbers and letters, which locates the book within the collection. Call numbers generally look like this:

While the vast majority of the collection is located on Level Two of the library, items newly added to the collection are located on the ‘New Books’ shelf by the Issue Desk on Level One. This shelf is regularly updated.
Journals
The Library currently subscribes to approximately 80 journal titles. The most recent issue is displayed on the journal shelf on Level One by the stairs. Back-issues are arranged alphabetically on shelves on Level One. All journals are for use in the library only.
DVDS
There is a large DVD collection located on Level One of the Library and this collection is constantly expanding. These DVDs, which mainly comprise feature films, can be viewed in the Library and cannot be borrowed.
Videos
The Library holds approximately 1,000 videos, also located on Level One, covering such areas as feature films, documentary, fine art, animation and the graduate show-reels produced each year by IADT students. Although some of these videos are for Library-Use Only, the majority can be borrowed for three days.
CD-ROMs
A range of multimedia CD-ROMs are held in the Library. These are for use in the Library on the range of computers available. CD- ROMs may not be borrowed.
Exhibition Catalogues
The Library has a collection of exhibition catalogues from around the world. These are mainly located on Level One.
Theses
The Library has a collection of theses produced by IADT students dating back to the mid-1990s. These are located on Level One.
Reference Material
Dictionaries, directories, encyclopaedias, atlases etc are also held by the Library and can be used as reference material within the Library. These are located on Level One.
Online Subscriptions
The Library subscribes to a number of electronic databases. These are listed in the Database section of the website click here to see the list.
