Visual Communication Design includes the design of diverse and complex information for print, screen and space.

From printed matter (newspapers, magazines, books, tickets, posters etc) to screen (web interfaces, film titles, television graphics and idents etc) through to environmental applications (road markings, signage, wayfinding systems etc), graphic design informs and assists us in almost everything we do. It includes design of communications and literature for public and private organisations, corporate identity, editorial design, exhibition design, interactive design, websites and motion graphics. All of these call for creative thinking and an eye for detail.

The programme of study at IADT is focused on delivering education and training to enable students to meet and inform the demands of contemporary design practice or to pursue postgraduate research.

The programme fosters experimentation, enquiry, critical awareness, discourse, collaboration and innovation in project design and programme delivery.

Teaching is based around practical projects that are openly assessed by staff and student peers, both during and at the end of each project. Students are encouraged to develop their own working methods and to initiate and manage their own work. Projects demand both independent and team based responses.
