The project-based programme of level two is designed to help students to further develop the concepts and techniques introduced in level one,
and to apply them to different design contexts.

Level two coursework focuses on the acquisition of knowledge and skills in the core areas of print, screen, and spatial design. Studio subjects include: drawing and image-making, photography, screenprint, typographics, e-graphics, 3D/spatial design and interdisciplinary design. Click on a subject to see samples of students work in each area.

Students are introduced to working processes and methods that enable them to take a proactive role in planning and managing their project work. They are encouraged to engage with a three-stage design process incorporating:

Research and Development
gathering of primary and secondary research, critical analysis and
concept development.

Design Development
generation of primary source materials, design treatment proposals,
visual development and mock-ups.

Design Production and Presentation
design iteration and refinement, and production of final outcomes for presentation.

At the end of level two, students should be able to apply basic design principles in each core area to a range of design briefs.
