IADT is unique in Ireland. It is one of the fourteen Institutes of Technology but is the only Institute of Art, Design and Technology. It is the leader for programmes in visual and media arts, digital media and technology and business and cultural sectors.

The Institute is organised into three Schools: School of Creative Arts, School of Creative Technologies and School of Business and Humanities.

IADT is also home to the internationally recognised National Film School.

The Visual Communication Design programme is in the School of Creative Arts. The School of Creative Arts has a long established international reputation. It offers a unique selection of undergraduate programmes across the applied fields of art, design and media. The School provides a portfolio of eleven interrelated programmes, a vibrant atmosphere of creativity, research and production and small class sizes incorporating one to one tutorials.

A recognised centre of excellence, the Visual Communication Design programme at IADT educates students to become professional designers who will engage with and respond to the demands and changes of contemporary graphic design practice.
