hotbed new
Hotbed is a website for design graduates and young designers to go and display, source and input information about the design community. Young designers can display and discuss work, while graduates can find out sage advice from those who have gone before them. Mostly its a vessel, waiting to be filled with answer for the weary young designer.

visual arts new
The Visual Practice is a unique initiative in art education: it provides a cohesive interdisciplinary programme in visual arts production, curation and criticism. For the brochure they wanted to capture an aspect of the course that would appeal to new comers. I chose the college surroundings as a point of interest after conducting a survey with the current first years. Using quotes and filtering the most important content to give the potential students something nice to hold but supplying the right information.

doyle
Doyle was a graduate film created by the National Film School, directed by Alan Early. For the film I created a poster, DVD box, promotional mailer and a title sequence. The idea behind my concept is of isolation. I was influence by William Dohorty's photographs and his use of text with image, which I felt gave a sense of solidarity. The brief was to create the journey from the city into the country-side travelled by a dublin gangster on his way to some unfinished business. I filmed the sequence getting darker to give on ominous feeling and shot it early in the morning while nobody was on the road.

film school
The National Film School require a new website to showcase their course. My job as the designer was to create a user friendly web site that students could display their work, prospective students look up courses and could updatable. I chose to keep the website quiet so the work could speak for itself and to give it a classic film look using text and light.

culture night
The Culture night Poster was part of our professional practice module in which we entered with fellow colleges for a chance to have a published poster. My design concept was to catch the viewers eyes by being quiet and mysterious amoungst all the visual pollution of a busy magazine and to lull them in to read the poster. I tried to give the sense of mystery and adventure that the brief asked of.

kingfisher

Kingfisher was a fictional pen company that I created an annual report for. The format of the report was design around a filofax. A working filofax that was also a annual report. As you went through the working year you also learnt something new about the company.

civilite
Civilite is a fictional country that I had to create an identity for. For the project I concentrated on the Dutch colonial theme and created a more progressive attitude for the countries identity. By using more geometric forms influence by dutch currency, I added this to my overall aesthetic.

nazi poster
The Nazi regime had a great influcence on design during the second world war, the brochure was a visual response to an essay that I wrote at the end of second year which discusseed this topic. The brochure had large red correction marks over the information to give the sense that the hand of propaganda was trying to have it change from modernist back to tradional German aesthetic.
