frutiger typeface poster
This poster designed to promote and sell the frutiger typeface pays homage to its original use at the Charles de Gaulles airport in Paris. The sans serif font is clear and legible from distance or at an angle. The simple upside down large cap F, depicts an airplane ascending with minimal manipulation, putting the font' s legibility at different angles to the test. Similarly the jet stream made up of small caps explores the typeface as illustrative shapes. The necessary information is typed underneath the white plane and its jet stream in a city light's yellow. It can be read as the irregular lighting up of windows in skyscrapers at night. A quarter page version of the main poster was also made, adapted to ad space in design magazine Blueprint.
