civilité identity

Civilité is an ex-colonial island 300km off the coast of west Africa. Being settled by French, Dutch and English invaders, all three languages are still in use. Its 400 year anniversary as a state called for a new identity and logo. With the theme of '400 years of international shipping' i designed the new identity cards with a feel for shipping with large type similar to cargo ships and buoys 'protecting' the holder's identity. The logo includes tribal influence to include the indeginous of Civilité with triangular shapes. It is an obvious reference to the fish shape, while using minimal manipulation: the 'IV' of Civilité is the only letterforms of the akzidenz grotesk logo that have been visibally transformed, a slight angle mirroring the floating movements at sea and enlargement and use of colour for these two characters. This has double effectiveness with the use of 'IV' as roman numerals for 4 referencing the 400 year celebration. The angle of the 'IV', once again was made use of in many other angles such as the letterhead main information being givn that same angle. The identity guidelines are printed on card and use the same angle as an advantage for effective communication. A series of stamps were also designed, designating different departments with simple transformations of the stick figure used.
