On April 11th, 1996, flames broke out in the busy Dusseldorf Airport. The ensuing chaos led to what is now regarded as the most devastating airport fire in German History. 17 people were killed and over 150 injured. A spokesman for the Dusseldorf Fire Department blamed the high number of casualties on people "ignoring" the emergency exit signs. Prior to the fire, the emergency exit signs were lost in a mss of airline logos and retail advertisements.

Meta Design in Berlin were subsequently commissioned to employ a clear signage system in Dusseldorf Airport. FF Info was the typeface used in Meta Design's new system.

The Poster is based on this history.
