My name is Melanie Whelan and I am a graphic
designer. I am currently enrolled in I.A.D.T
Dun Laoghaire. This is my fourth and final year
studying Visual Communications ( Graphic Design).
I really enjoy my course, because it is so challenging.
Everytime I get a new brief a million ideas rush
through my head and I wonder where can I possibly
start?. I live for that 'eureka' moment of
clarity when a solid idea begins to form in my head
and I know my project is going to be great.
That is the buzz that keeps me in the studio till eight
o'clock on a cold winters evening. To me, design is
about great ideas.

My favourite part of design is book design. I love
the tangeable qualities of books, the smell of the ink,
and the feel of the paper. I work part-time in a
bookshop and spend most of my time 'reviewing'
the merchandise.
