Advanced Photoshop

This course will appeal to individuals with basic or intermediate  knowledge and skills in Adobe Photoshop and image editing softwares. The course aims to teach participants the techniques necessary to create, manipulate and edit professional quality images with skill and precision. The participants will be taken through the entire post production process of editing digital images. The content of the course will include file management/adobe bridge, adjustments and colour correction, selections, working with layers, masks and adjustment layers, retouching and camera raw.

Creative Writing

This workshop offers each individual a key to understand the writer in themselves and is geared towards beginners and for those who want to find “ways into creative writing”. The workshops will offer participants a space to develop their own creative powers. The classes will offer strategies and space for writing in a warm and constructive environment. During the course participants will have the opportunity to explore different forms of writing (prose, poetry and script writing) but will be able to focus on the genre that most interests them by working on a project in a chosen style.  Classes run from 7pm to 9pm.

Digital Photography

This hands on course will guide you through the fundamentals of photography and is designed to help you get the most out of your bridge or DSLR camera while developing your creativity. Taught by professional photographer Aoife Giles, this course is ideal for participants who want to move away from shooting in Auto so that you can get the results you want from your camera.

Through practical exercises, field trips and a night shoot we will explore the key principals of photography like aperture shutter speed, ISO, metering and depth of field as well as lens choice and other technical considerations.

By experimenting with a range of photographic styles and analysing the work of great photographers each participant will learn how to develop their own style and create images that they treasure.

Time in each session will also be dedicated to downloading and editing your images using Lightroom and Photoshop so that you can begin to catalogue, print and share your images.

To get the most from this course it is recommended that you have a DSLR or good quality bridge or mirrorless camera.  Notes are provided but we advise that you bring a pen and a memory stick or harddrive to bring home some of the digital course materials as well as your edited images.

Drawing Skills Workshop

This course is designed for students who wish to develop their skills in drawing. Working from a selection of still life set-ups and personal objects, students will learn the fundamental stages of drawing from the observation. Students will become familiar with drawing techniques using a variety of approaches and media. This course will suit anyone who has an interest in improving the craft of drawing.
